Crowned 2024 Emerging Artist of the Year at the Western Australian Country Music Awards, Savanah Solomon is cementing her status as a rising star in the modern country music scene in Australia and beyond. Born in Derby, Savanah grew up surrounded by the wide red plains and abundant oceans of WA’s Kimberley region. Few places on the planet are as wild and beautiful and it is this landscape that Savanah evokes in much of her music.

From rock and roll to country, Savanah writes songs that bring to life her experiences of the world around her. Emerging in 2016 with her band Savanah and the Strays, she played a brand of feel-good rock and roll that audiences found irresistible. Throughout Savanah and The Strays four-year tenure they performed at a number of rodeos and festivals – and released their acclaimed debut album ‘Salt of The Earth’ – which garnered them nods as finalists for ‘Album of the Year’ at the West Australian Country Music Awards, and finalists for ‘Best Country Act of the Year’ at the 2019 WAM Awards.

‘If Jewel and Joni Mitchell had a love child, it would be Savanah Solomon.’ ~ Rose Parker

The band amicably parted ways in 2020, and Savanah continued her career as a solo artist, releasing two singles ‘Lost in Love’ and ‘Rainbow’ in 2021. Both songs feature personal observations of love, loss and pain, and showcase Savanah’s ever-evolving sound, shifting to gentle tones and slide guitars.

In 2023, Savanah released her rustically-charming alt-country EP Where the River Meets the Sea. The title track, a nod to her hometown of Moore River, created waves in the West Australian Music Scene – receiving a premiere on Double J, a number of rave reviews from the Triple J Team, and becoming a finalist for ‘Song of the Year’ in the country category at the WAM Awards.

Savanah launched Where the River Meets the Sea at Clancy’s Fish Pub Fremantle, with her first full band show since The Strays era, proving that her new music still has the power to get people up and dancing. Savanah then hit the road for her Where the River Meets the Sea north-west regional tour, traveling up and down the coast of Western Australia, and playing shows to an increasingly ardent audience.

There’s a whole world of hope, heartbreak and healing in Savanah’s songs. The instrumentation on her music is warm and spacious, giving the singer room to weave her magic and underscoring Savanah’s lyricism with melodies and beats that evoke far horizons, warm fires on winters nights and a sense of peace amongst the maelstrom of modern life.

Savanah is an accomplished singer and performer with capacity to hold an audience that transcends her mere quarter century on the planet, evident in her captivating shows across the length and breadth of Western Australia and at prestigious events like Nannup Music Festival, Boyup Brook Country Music Festival, Beerfarm Rodeo, Fremantle Winter Music Festival, & Shinju Matsuri Festival.

Reflecting on her career so far, Savanah, said, “Music has always been a part of me. It’s in my blood,” underscoring the authenticity and beauty of the music she creates.

What’s next for Savanah is up to her. She has always charted her own course as a woman and an artist. There are, however, some inevitabilities. Wherever Savanah plays her music, her audience grows and remains with her. And, no matter how she chooses to develop her craft, Savanah will always do what’s in her blood.

“Savanah soars on this with the story coming through so vividly. I can really feel the confidence in your songwriting on this one”

— Sara Glaidous, Triple J  (Where the River Meets the Sea)

“Her enchanting voice and evocative storytelling draw listeners into her world, where they can’t help but be moved by the enduring melodies and poignant lyrical writing. Savanah Solomon’s EP is a remarkable achievement, cementing her status as a rising star in the modern country music scene in Australia and beyond”

— Plastic Magazine  (Where the River Meets the Sea)

“There is a gentle grace that Savanah Solomon brings to her music. It leans in equal measure in the darkness of alt-noir sounds and heartwarming storytelling place that country music sits.”

— Nkechi Anele, Triple J (Lost In Love)
